The second connects my lounge/media PC with all my pictures, audio, and videos to my media extender and home cinema setup in another room.I get no more drop outs on the Squeezebox Boom, and I have had no problems streaming video content to the media extender except for one test file that was a huge full HD video sample with DTS HD Master Audio. I've also just bought two more.
They were ideal for connecting my broadband cable connection up to our home office in another part of the house where the wireless didn't reach. We had a fairly unusual electrical setup in that house as the broadband came into a recent extension with modern wiring, while the home office was in the old part of the house with wiring from several decades back.
I bought my first two Panasonic BL-PA100KTA adapters back in 2005 when we moved into a larger house. The Panasonics were rock solid and I had stable speeds of around 60-70Mb/s based on a download speeds from one part of the house to the other. We're now in a tall Georgian house and I'm still using the original Panasonics to connect three floors up to where our home office now is.
The two parts of the house were fed from the same mains ingress, but had separate distribution panels for the circuits in each part of the house. Previously I had the slower (54Mb) Netgear powerline adaptors and they simply would not work reliably across the two parts of the house.
The first I am using to connect a Squeezebox Boom in the lower ground floor as the wireless signal was less than brilliant down there. 720p streams fine, which is enough for me as that is what today's high def television channels and most internet content is output as, but I'd look to a wired 100Mb or preferably Gigabit connection or possibly a wireless-N solution if you need to stream 1024p content.I also prefer the design of the Panasonics where the unit and cord/plug are separate - unlike some other designs where a chunky unit plugs directly into the wall and usually blocks any adjacent outlets from use.All in all, highly recommended, it's just a shame that they are getting hard to find.
I have a home network using several Panasonic BL-PA100KTA and they just work. In 1 year of use they have never disconnected or had any problem at all.
These are corded and are much more convenient as a result. I managed to snag 3 refurbished starter kits (6 adapters in total) for about the same price as discounted 1st generation 14 Mb adapters and I feel pretty smug about it. These things work great, provide AV level speed, have 128 bit AES security built in, have a no brainer configuration procedure, and are much easier to work with than the ones that plug directly into the wall. If you want to move a node, you just unplug it and take it to another room. It configures back into the network in a few seconds.
Works great. It have 6 units and using them on a computer (instead of wirelesss) 2 blue ray payers, and 2 directv boxes. I have had these for 8 months with no problems
We had Locus Logic (www.locuslogic.com) install the products in a deli for our POS system. These have been installed for about three weeks, and we have not had any network interruptions. It is in the middle of our building so it was hard to install a network cable. We tried wireless for a while, but with all the other equipment installed, the wireless connection was not reliable. The speed is as good as the wireless connection. I would recommend these to anyone who needs a similar setup.
